Installing RO system – How and where to install in a home

RO systems are becoming extremely popular, these days. People are preferring to install an RO system in their new homes. There are several reasons for it. First, it is capable of removing all types of impurities, second, it ensures pure and clean water, third, it requires low maintenance and fourth, it promises the best value for consumer’s money.

However, the major cause of concern among most people related to RO system is its’ installation. People do not know where and how to install an RO system in their home.

Installing RO system – The process:
An RO system consists of the following main components:
a) Prefilters
b) The reverse osmosis membrane
c) A storage tank
d) A faucet

Steps to follow when Installing RO system:
a) Step one:
You need to buy the reverse osmosis system first. Once this job is over, you would require a ½ inch drill bit so as to mount the faucet. You also require a smaller drill to install waste water line. Make sure you have Teflon tape to seal the connections properly.
b) Step two:
You must read all the instructions on installation provided on the RO system manual, carefully. This will make you familiar with the whole installation procedure. You would also get a chance to confirm that you have collected all the items required prior to starting off with the installation process.
c) Step three:
Collect everything that you would require to install and make sure all these items are close to you.
d) Step four:
This step involves removing the RO system from the packaging. Now, carefully check for any missing parts. You need to assemble filters in the best order. Most RO systems are available with filters that are already assembled into a filter bank. The reverse osmosis membrane is not installed. You will find it in a sealed package. Make sure that you do not open it until you are all ready for system installation.
e) Step five:
Remove all items present under the sink and put aside. Now, line the bottom of the sink cabinet with shelf liner of the cabinet.
f) Step six:
Opt for a location to install RO faucet. The location can be on any side of your sink fixture. You need to analyze clearance on the sink’s underside prior to drilling your hole.
g) Step seven:
Drill a hole for faucet just where the location has been chosen. Now, install it and tighten the faucet.
h) Step eight:
You need to turn off the cold water supply valve and then attach the saddle valve as per the instructions provided to the cold water line that goes to the faucet.
i) Step nine:
Attach the value and waste water line by drilling a hole in the drain pipe. Now, install valve over the hole. A plastic drain line needs to be inserted into the valve fitting.
j) Step ten:
As per the instructions assemble any required elbow fittings or tee.
k) Step eleven:
Choose a location under the sink for the filter bank and the storage tank.
l) Step twelve:
Attach the lines.
m) Step thirteen:
Analyze the system and turn on the cold water supply to about half way open. The filters will fill. Look for any leaks and open the faucet to let in air.
n) Step fourteen:
Close the RO faucet once the water is filled.
o) Step fifteen:
Flush out the first tank.
